About Beacon Heights Paint and Design
Owned and operated by Graham and Nicole Harder, Beacon Heights Paint and Design is a family-owned paint store located in northwest Calgary. A small business that appreciates good people and good relationships, Beacon Heights Paint and Design first opened its doors to the public in August 2017.
Graham was an experienced painter with a concentration mostly in kitchen cabinet refinishing while running another team or two around jobsites in Calgary. With a business degree from Mount Royal University and an entrepreneurial spirit, a paint store seemed like a great way to combine both of Graham’s passions. He enjoys offering his expertise and helping carry out household projects through to completion.
The right shade of paint can allow expression of personality, and make a tired space a place you actually want to live in. Paint can add style and sophistication to a room while also allowing for life to happen naturally. The change that comes with a fresh coat of paint can be remarkable and refreshing. It is a simple way to provide long-lasting character, and the best part is you can do a lot for relatively little.
If you’re lucky during the busy summer season you’ll run into Joyce or Jim Harder (or call them Mom and Dad) helping out behind the counter of the paint store. They’re usually good for some extra conversation and solid product recommendations! And the two chocolate labs pictured above (Ruby and Penny) also visit the shop on occasion and are always more than happy to greet customers.
Laurie, Beacon Heights’ store manager, has been on staff since day one. She is a 14-year Benjamin Moore veteran, with most of her time spent in Nanaimo, B.C., until she relocated to Calgary to be closer to her family. The resident Benjamin Moore guru, Laurie can answer any question you might have about painting products and coatings.
The talented Cher started with the store in late 2018 and has a strong background in interior design and decorating. She also makes her own jewelry and you might see her at the Kensington night market during the summer selling her wares. Always excited to learn new skills and take on a challenge, Cher will give you unbiased, smart advice on designing your space and choosing colours.
